Process presentation
This is a new solution addressing a social problem: the issue of human trafficking in our country, which had not previously been tackled by a multi-stakeholder approach. eLiberare brings together private organizations, public authorities, individuals and communities, the Church, and others to collaborate within a shared framework.
Thanks to eLiberare, Romania’s national educational programs have been revised to include mandatory courses on combating human trafficking for teenagers. Furthermore, as a result of their work, every Romanian embassy in the EU now has at least one trained officer capable of identifying trafficking victims and helping prevent further exploitation.
Involved partners
eLiberare has succeeded in bringing all key actors to the same table (police representatives, child protection services, community leaders such as priests, teachers, and mayors), educating them in a unified approach and enabling them to work together as equals. This collaboration shortens the response time to potential trafficking cases and helps prevent them from occurring.
Impact
This innovative initiative primarily creates value for society as a whole, rather than for individuals. By addressing such a serious social issue, the eLiberare model delivers collective benefits and fosters individual empowerment.
In addition to tool creation, eLiberare conducts awareness-raising, education, and advocacy activities to help communities better identify and prevent human trafficking and to support its victims. For example, they have developed a partnership with the Romanian Orthodox Church and run training courses for priests in vulnerable communities to help them identify, prevent, and report potential trafficking cases.
Next steps
The tools developed by eLiberare are design-replicable, which has enabled the curriculum to be piloted with partners in the Republic of Moldova.
